Have You Got (LEGO®) Game ?



In a place far, far away, in the distant continent called Europe, there is a country called Denmark whose town of Billund is considered as the birthplace of the now increasingly famous plaything we all fondly refer to as “LEGO®”.

But what is the LEGO® game? What does the name LEGO® in the LEGO® game name mean? Here’s a brief history of the wonderful invention we all know as the LEGO® game.

The year 1932 actually saw the birth of the LEGO® game company as its creator and mastermind, the great, Ole Kirk Christiansen set up his humble company in Billund, Denmark, from its humble roots as a small firm specializing in making stepladders, ironing boards and wooden toys, the phenomenon that the LEGO® game (the name “LEGO®” is actually a mix of two Danish words: “leg” and “godt” which simply means, “play well?”) has become is nothing but a distant dream.

However, as Mr. Christiansen’s company continue to expand and create a steady growing market, the year 1955 saw the birth of the company that would soon revolutionize how children play, through the systematic and highly-creative LEGO® game. With the LEGO® game’s colorful blocks and unique appeal, the LEGO® game company continuously tried to keep up with the growing demand of its followers for newer models, styles and more creative LEGO® games. Fortunately for the LEGO® game enthusiasts, the LEGO® game company is in no way about to disappoint.

Over the years, the LEGO® game company has continuously been able to come up with various ways to make the LEGO® game experience more fun, exciting, educational and interactive for its faithful followers. Starting from the LEGO® game’s invention of the “wheel” way, way back in the year 1961, much to the delight of youngsters everywhere. Followed by the introduction of the first LEGO® game train in the year 1966, complete with a conductor and railroad tracks, the LEGO® game system has definitely evolved from its humble roots as mere wooden blocks back in Denmark. With a growing following, the LEGO® game company, in 1967 finally came up with a LEGO® game catered to the younger set which they aptly referred to as “Duplo”. After a couple of more years, the LEGO® game system adopted the idea of bringing it character figured to spruce up the imaginary world of LEGO® game. Then in 1977, the LEGO® game expanded bearing those with a highly-technical side in mind by introducing the LEGO® game technic play sets wherein loyal followers of the LEGO® game system can now create cars that can double as actual moving playthings that they can play around with. And it just doesn’t stop there!

The year 1978 saw the birth of the new LEGO® game character figures, complete with moving arms and legs, the LEGO® game characters are not immobile anymore! Unfortunately, with the LEGO® game business slowly dwindling they had to act fast and actually come up with fresh ideas to keep the public’s fascination with them, thus, the invention of the “themed” LEGO® game play sets wherein LEGO® game enthusiasts are now able to create specific models based on whatever theme/s that they choose. LEGO® game’s first themed play set was actually the LEGO®land Space Theme back in 1979, it enjoyed definite global success.

Up to now, from partnership deals with Nicklelodion (Dora the Explorer themed LEGO® games) and the Discovery Channel, LEGO® game has definitely made its mark and is surely here to stay.
