Stuck on a Word?
Decoding words can be one of the greatest hurdles a child faces when learning to read. Children become disengaged when they feel unsuccessful, and parents get frustrated when their kids can’t “just sound it out.” Phonics does, undoubtedly, have a place in reading instruction and is one way that readers can figure out unknown words.
